Developing a Mindfulness Meditation Practice If you are interested in the benefits of mindfulness and meditation, developing a daily practice or habit of Presence is a must. The ability to tune into yourself and draw your awareness to the present moment is a foundational element of many healing modalities and overall holistic wellness practices including yoga and many others. Even high-level athletes, artists, performers and business people utilize mindfulness habits to perform at optimal levels and achieve their goals. In this course, we’ll discuss the basics of mindfulness and why a habit of mindfulness may be a simple practice that will have a big impact on the things you want to achieve in your life! This course includes 21 days of journal prompts to help you practice. What is Mindfulness? “Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.” “Mindfulness is more than just a practice. It brings awareness and caring into everything we do—and it cuts down needless stress. Even a little makes our lives better.” https://www.mindful.org/what-is-mindfulness/ For me, mindfulness is: The ability to choose at the moment how I want to feel, knowing that the present moment is the only time/place/space I can choose anything. A powerful way of allowing for a more inspired way of thinking and acting. Mindfulness practice is simply taking 5 to 30 minutes to just be. Breathe and notice yourself, and your surroundings, and choose to allow yourself to feel peaceful and calm. After developing a practice of mindfulness, I became keenly aware that there is something magical about the Present Moment. I became aware that the Present Moment truly is all there is, and that it is infinite in its potential. What I mean by that is the Present Moment is the ONLY time we ever really get to choose ANYTHING.
